I have some exciting news to share with you all today, a couple of weeks back I was given the fantastic opportunity to join the Design Team at THROUGH THE PURPLE HAZE CHALLANGES and today I will take part in my first challenge, yay!!
The challenge this week is Sponsored by INDIGO BLU and we were given a beauiful set of stamps, I got BLOOMING GREAT to work with and I have to say the images are stunning, it is an anything goes challenge so I decided to try out something that wasn't a card and this is what I created
I started off with a blank chipboard door hanger
I covered this with a cream designer paper from the Do Crafts, Gorjus paper pad adhered it using Decopatch Glue I then left this aside to dry.In the meantime I began the stamping, on cream pearlescent paper, with black memento ink, I stamped a selection of the flowers and leaves from the set and a butterfly from my stash. I coloured these with my promarkers
I used a combination of Shale, Cinnamon, Dusky pink, Blush, and then cut all the shapes out, To highlight one of the larger flowers I inked it with embossing ink and heat embossed it using clear embossing powder, I repeated this process twice more to make sure it had a nice glossy finish.
With black Staz-on ink I stamped the three flowers onto opaque shrink plastic, on the larger two I punched holes on the top and bottom and on the smallest just one at the top I then cut out the flowers and heated using my heat gun to shrink the plastic, when they had cooled I linked them together using jump rings, onto craft wire I threaded a selection of pearls and combined these together to make a charm cluster.
When the paper was dryed on the door hanger I sanded the edges with sand paper to give a nice smooth finish, I then inked the edges with Vintage photo Distress ink.
Again with Black Memento Ink I stamped directly onto the door hanger I used the large Vine frame this time and stamped it whole across the bottom of the hanger, I coloured in the image using a combination of the promarkers I used to colour the flowers and leaves, I then randomly stamped the vine pattern over the rest to create a background effect.
To distress the edges further I inked with embossing ink and heat embossed with pearlescent embossing powder. On the pearlescent paper I stamped the circular frame portion of the stamp and stamped the sentiment inside I then cut this out and repeated the heat embossing technique as described on the flower above, this was adhered using foam pads to give extra dimension and finished with Amber coloured Gems.
To finish I layered the flowers, leaves, butterfly and charm cluster and tied some ribbon to the handle.
I hope you can come come and join in the fun at Through the purple haze challenges
